Chic, Fun and Classy
Those are the three words I can think about when I look at our newest creations.. I have been thinking about new colors and themes to introduce into our line, I think dangles and the combination between clear and darker stones is the way to go. They make the pieces so much more versatile, you can wear them at day or night and with so many different outfits! Let me know if you are interested on any of these pieces. They all come in sets.

Stay put headbands!
We just finished this amazing stay put headband, this is our new product that we hope you enjoy. We know how sometimes it is too hard to find headbands to wear when you are going to a nightclub or something that involves a lot of movement. It is always uncomfortable to have to fix your hair every 5 minutes while you are out. So we created this headband that has a rubber band that makes it stay in place for hours! Many more on their way!

It has been long...
I am so sorry for abandoning the blog for such a long time, it has been a very very busy last couples of weeks. Daniel and I were off to Lima, Peru to meet up with my family and immediately after that we took off to New Orleans to celebrate White Linen Night, famous gallery walk in town celebrating all of new artists.
But I am back in town and back to work, and what a best way to start our week, letting you know that we were published in PaperCity this month! In the suggested retailers section! very cool! We are super excited, and hope people pass it on and learn more about our creations.
I also wanted to show you a picture of the amazing fascinator I wore for White Linen Night, I held up the whole night and it was so comfortable I could not even feel it on my head!
You can find this amazing piece at our website, www.sugarblushjewelry.com

Delicate, Simple and Chic - SOLD
This is my new obsession! We just finished this amazing headband that has become my new favorite accessory to wear. After looking endlessly for some headbands that would not hurt my head after wearing them for a couple of hours, I decided to go back to the basics... Goody products... of course I found this double wide headband which I decorated with duck feathers and added a thick horse tail/mesh light brown flower on the side adorned by some pheasant feathers and multicolored 4mm agathe beads on the side...
I think it is so precious, I am so proud of my baby!!! :)
Perfect to dress up a jeans/t-shirt outfit or complement a nice little sundress... thoughts anyone?

Sick and misserable, worst 48 hrs ever!
So, after my exciting weekend I came back home on saturday night after going to Dane's Cook comedy show at the Toyota Center and cramping myself into 8, the new cool bar/lounge/night club on Washington St; which was too crowded for my taste that made me and my husband flee that mess after 1 hour of fighting against the crowd to get some drinks.
Sunday morning my nose was super congested, I felt like the sky was falling over me! I refused to get out of bed until noon when my husband dragged me to his parents house to get in the pool and get some sun. After a couple of hours and lots and lots of medicines I was feeling better. We went to our volleyball tournament, won 3 out of 4 games and by midnight I was fighting against the headache and massive congestion again...
Monday was even worst until I had some Tylenol Cold and Sinus, OMG, I felt like someone drilled a hole in my head and all the excess of air came out and the pressure was gone! I could breathe for the first time in two days! (Not to mention that due to my lack of smell, I had been driking chicken soup and nothing else for 48 hrs., hopefully I have lost some weight...)
Today my head feels fine and I think I can go back to my normal life tomorrow, I am still a ittle shaky, but nothing like yesterday. I am so graceful to TYLENOL!

Museum of Natural Science, Pool Side Mojitos, and Cabaret...
Yesterday we had an amazing cultural day... My husband treated me with a full day of culture and relaxation!
We started by going to the Museum of Natural Science and the Diamonds exposition, omg that's all I am going to say... We spend almost two hours admiring the most astonishing jewelry pieces from the most prestigious jewelry homes around the world. We some tiaras and bracelets by Cartier, a Faberge Egg encrusted with diamonds, Van Cleef's amazing flower detailed necklaces,
the the world's biggest caramel colored diamond... 490 k.
It was just breath taking to see the precision that these designs had, the timeless taste in their lines, and the harmony between the beauty of the stones and the class of the women who had worn these pieces of art.
After dreaming with these amazing pieces we wen to the largest exposition of Terra cota warriors in the world. Flown in from China, we had the chance have a glimpse of the amazing Chinese culture between the years 230 and 200 B.C.
It is an opportunity no one in Houston should pass on, the exposition is not huge, it will probably take you no more than a couple of hours to go around it. But the history involved in it is just amazing.
The detail in the facial expressions of the warriors, their armors, and chariots is just something never seen. Plus you get a peek on the process of restoration and excavation of geological sites.
The heat was increasing and the pool was inviting, we decided to take a break and lay by the pool enjoying mojitos and splashes with some friends until 8 p.m. when we had to go the theatre to watch the recreation of New York's City classic, Cabaret.
I was so disappointed to encounter a play with such a strong political message and deep understanding of people living under the Nazi regime in Berlin, be slaughter and transformed into a Disney type of love story, jokes falling flat, colorful attires and WAY too much make up on the "narrator" of the play who came to be seen as a clown more than anything else....
To say the least it was the most painful $200 I have ever spent in my entire life.. If you were thinking of going, DON'T! Rent the original Broadway production from Block Buster and cook a gourmet dinner at home with the remaining $185.
I am a big fan and advocate of culture, but directors should not create their "own" versions of classic plays. Yesterday night 45% of the audience were people between 65 and 75 years old, who had seen the original play before, I have never seen anyone on that age to stand up and run to the doors to stop the blood coming out of their ears... It was just unclassy and tacky, just torture for real culture lovers.

Hungry anyone!?!
I was going to start eating healthy today until my sister called up and invited me to celebrate the end of her finals.
She could not have chosen a better place to sink her stress under lots of whipping cream in a huge piece of cheesecake! Of course I am tagging along in the ride...
Oh well there's always tomorrow!

Great summer tips:
LLano wine, made in Texas, $10-$13 per bottle, goes perfect with a sunny and hot afternoon.
We also picked a blue cheese, smoked gouda cheese, parmegiano, and some sort of cheese with garlic, rosemary and herbs which melted in our mouths!
Amazing afternoon for $40, lovely time with your family!

Well I grabbed some cheeses, strawberry compote, a nice chilled bottle of white wine, and our travel size Backgammon kit! So off we go Thomas, D and me to enjoy our wine and play Backgammon, which I lost like 5 times!

Terracota Dreams..
Here is a little treat for our more conservative readers.
While we were in Washington recently we picked up some unique beads, I was immediately drawn to this wonderful type of quartz because of their shape and mixture in colors. You have shades of beige, brown, purple, gray, yellow, gosh every color imaginable!
I decided to mix them with some gray onix beads, gold filled chains and findings and silk thread! This gives YOU the chance to tie it at the length you need for an specific wardrobe.
This is a perfect transition piece, you how bold colors are in for the fall? Well this necklace goes amazingly with purple, dark mustard yellow, dark deep turquoise and much more! But it can still be worn with summer brights like pink, light blue and white! It is a great buy that you can use all year round!

Lamb Chops, Cherry/Red Wine Reduction...
This weekend while we were at the ranch celebrating the Aggies Golf National Championship, my father in law asked me to cook for him a special meal worthy of champions!
Without thinking it twice I grabbed by little yellow notepad and started scribbling our wonderful dinner..
We started with some smoked salmon (pre package) served with tiny pieces of boiled egg, capers, and red onions, paired amazingly with some Veuve Cliquot.
Then we continued our dinner with some lamb chops, which took 15 mins of preparation at least 2 hours prior to cooking; and 18 - 20 mins of cooking time.
Here are the steps to follow:
1) Get a full rack of chops and make sure to season it generously with salt and pepper, remember that lamb has a very gamy flavor to it and needs lots of time to be marinated.
2) In between each bone make a 1 1/2" insition until the middle of the meat; do not cut it all the way through because that will make the chop dry when you are cooking them.
3) Get some fresh rosemary and take little pieces of the branches and shove them into the cuts, you can not use too much of it, so don't worry and be generous!
4) Chop 2 to 3 more stalks of rosemary very thinly, mix the tiny pieces with 1/4 of butter stick per rack of 6 lamb chops and put it in the microwave for it to melt.
5) Spread the melted butter with rosemary evenly through out the lamb chops and set them in a baking sheet. Cover up with some aluminum foil and let them rest.
6) 30 mins before you want to serve dinner, get a big non sticky pan, drizzle some olive oil and heat it at medium temparture until the oil starts to sizzle. Put the first rack in the pan with the back part facing you and wait until the fat becomes golden; around 5 mins. At this point you preheatthe oven at 450 degrees.
7) Then turn the rack and cook the back side until golden.
8) Repeat the process on each of the side chops.
9) Finish searing all the racks, this makes the flavor of the rosemary to set in and prevents the juices from drying when baking.
10) Place all the seared racks on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
11) Carve each lamb chop and you will be ready to serve them!
For the cherry wime redution you need to follow simple step:
1) Open a bottle of red wine, cabernet preferably. Mix in a sauce pan 1/2 bottle with 1 cup of sugar, and a bunch of cherries cut in halves (approx 20-24). Let the mix reduce at low heat (approx. 45 mins) taste the reduction and you can add more wine to make it a little less sweet or you can add more sugar to make it sweeter, it is all about your taste!
2) AFter you cut the lamb chops, grab a spoon full of the reduction and cover the chop; the contrast of flavors is to die for!
You should pair this dish with a nice bold wine, that will mellow with all the strong flavors of the lamb!
Let me know if you have some questions about it, I would love to help!

Oh mY gosh Welcome to Cancun!
OH MY GOSH!
I had never been to Cancun before, and let me tell you... it has been amazing! After spending all the day relaxing at the beach and dipping myself in the pool and when I thought it could not get much better, the day was over and it was time to hit town.
After arming myself with tons of desinfectant I was ready to go out and enjoy the sunset with a over priced bottle of champagne and some tapas; followed by a three course meal with wine; and at this point I was already getting frisky....
Then we hit all the expected places which were so without a crowd it was amazing! I enjoyed so much group dancing to the manic screams of an entertainer, lost my valentino sunglasses, after Mr. Frogs went to Carlos and Charlies and so on... After a few yards of margaritas and caphirinas my world was spinning!
This morning I was still seeing double and rehydrating myself to go back in the sun... gosh I could do this stuff all day for the rest of my life!

One of the spring's must haves! This is a personal favorite; unikite round beads, they are really huge (18mm approx), you also have flat turquoise, 4mm Swarovski crystals in very cute colors (fuchsia and yellow) and a big fish charm!
Perfect to wear it with a funky colored shirt and some skinny jeans... Maybe with a cute bell bottom dress in solid indigo blue..

Yum!
Fresh from the designing table!
This is one of our newest pieces for this fall, very powerful colors, soft silk ribbon to make our creations adjustable to any length. Lots of golden and crystals!
Perfect to wear it on one of those days when you need to go to work but have plans afterwards as well, no need to go back home and change, take off your jacket and uncover those shoulders, this is the perfect touch for a classy look.
Any suggestions for colors we should add into our inventory?

Indian Dreams!
This is a piece I love, I think it is classy and sexy, the way the turquoises and crystals lay in your chest makes your shoulders and neck jump out of your outfit!
This is a must have for this summer, it is so chic. Made with round turquoises, pink jade, and gold filled findings is a steal! You can purchase it at www.sugarblushjewelry.com
I must say this would make you glow when wearing it to dinner with a nice silk shirt with some pants or a nice skirt, you can wear it when your dress has a design as long as it is big and not overwhelming!
You would not think it twice to wear it out!

1) White
2) Beige
3) Gray
I think would be the best options to make the jewelry pop out and give you a feminine look.
If you are thinking of different combinations, you can also wear it with black, dark blue, light blue or fun green or yellow!
Apologies!

Heavenly Matched!
Nowadays feathers are very inn, but many people are not sure how to wear them. Some people think they look too much, or some others simple think they would look silly with them, I say: "don't be affraid to try something new, take a risk, be unique. There is no better reward than feeling sexy."
These are some of my newest creations, you can find them at Shyn Salon on West Alabama and at Viva la Vida Store in the Village.
These fabulous headbands are just great with simple a line dresses, nice flowy silk shirts and of course they would be an amazing accessory for a beautiful wedding on the beach!
They are made with natural feathers, semiprecious stones and 14k goldfilled wires! To see some pictures of how some of our clients rock them out visit: http://www.sugarblushjewelry.com/wearitout.aspx
Have a wonderful week!

Valentino Red!
Just glamorous!
This pieces is made with natural red coral pieces with a conic cut, which gives movement and originality to the piece.
This will go amazingly with a simple black jersey dress and cute patent leather pumps!
Also you can wear it with some nice jeans and a fun silk blouse, very colorful goes perfect with the amazing weather we have been having in Houston.
Also is a great beach accessory, you can never look too good for a pool party, have a maxi dress, put a cherry on top with this lavish piece!

Special occassion on the beach, here is our pick of the day, gorgeous, delicate, simple, but very very unique...
What would you think people would say when they see you wearing this fabulous one of a kind unikite necklace, with natural shells wired in 14k gold filled thread?
Keep it simple, wear a very deep low cut bathing suit maybe in burgundy, dark green, black or white, I would avoid bikinis just because you want to call the attention to the necklace and too much exposure is not fun.
AFterewards I woul advice you get a simple, sheer, cover up; you can find cute ones at Target, Antropologie and J. Crew; a pair of flip flops and you are ready to knock the sand off everyone's feet!
Hope you like it! Vi

Eye Candy!
This piece is truly amazing, I always get so touched by it. I think it represents the idea behind creating this line of jewelry, uniqueness, fun and femininity. Green, fuchsia, and gold my favorite combination!
For me it makes me think about how creativity makes you see things beyond what's there, I imagine a great strapless silk dress in emerald green, all draped in the back, and this gorgeous necklace to adorn it!
It actually looks great just with a simple jumpsuit, white is fabulous!
This pieces is playful and elegant, is a great ind for this summer!

Pretty in Green
This is one of my favorite pieces in the whole wide world! I is so chic, I imagine Audrey Hepburn wearing this set on the streets of Paris wearing a magnificent waist trim dress with a full skirt, maybe in a beige tone with golden accents!
Going back to Houston though, I would advise you to wear a nice sundress and flip flops, large brim hat is highly advisable!
I would also advise you to use this for a chic late
afternoon luncheon with the girls; you can wear a nice suit, preferably white or beige with a baby doll cami of green or gold. Super cute!

Look of the Day!
This is our choice for today, it is simple, elegant, completely gracious and great for this season.
These gray onix beads matched with purple Swarovski crystals, silver findings, and some AMAZING carved quartz beads, and to top that tassels in the end!
You can wear it with:
a) A cute summer dress, try silk or jersey, better if it is dark gray, white or black, very simple shoes if you can find some patent leather pumps or sandals.
b) Working pants with a nice cardigan, keep it inside the same range of colors, grays, black, or white; very classic.
c) Need to go out, bubble skirt, black tank top, maybe top it with a vest! Gosh gladiator sandals! You'll rock the bar!
